Glass doors can be hard to deal with, window dressing wise. Which treatment still allows easy access to the door, will the pull string eventually wear out, what are my alternative to the traditional vertical blinds, etc… Well, here are 3 ways to deal with the tough sliding glass door problem:
1. Build a cornice and hide the rod underneath so that it doesn’t look too close to either the window or the ceiling. It also looks professionally done and elegant.
2. Have double set of drapes, use grommets to attach them to the rod, and don’t forget to hang the curtains more than 6 inches above the top of the door, for the illusion of added height. Set the windows up so that they open from the middle and when open, each side has a modest amount of curtain piling up.
3. Get a very wide drape and have a one-way draw curtain. This has the advantage of looking very streamlined and panel-like, as well as giving you quick and easy access to the door.
